A Timeline
In third grade, for a ‘take your daughter to work’ day at Duckhorn Vineyards, my mom introduced me to a graphic designer working on the King Eider release. That was when I decided to be a designer.
When I was 21, after my first summer internship, the reality that I was designing for other people and not myself set in. That’s when I decided I was not going to be a designer.
After graduating in 2011, the tail end of the Great Recession, I was recruited by Apple to be a Production Designer. This ended up being a perfect fit - I was able to use my graphics knowledge and soon learn to collaborate with a multitude of teams all wanting to reach a common end goal. Over the eight year span at Apple I was promoted to running my own project - Tips. Here I was able to learn the art of being a Design Program manager.
At 30, I decided I wanted to be a baker. I quit my job at Apple and moved to France.
At 30.5, I realized I like desk jobs and not starting work at 2am.
At 30.75, I moved back to the States and began pinpointing what I wanted in a career. This is when I came to the conclusion that I want to be on the design management side by leading teams and problem solving.
