Tools Automation

By teaming with software engineers, the creation of automation scripts greatly improved designers production speed and decreased bugs.

Photoshop String Replacement

This tool was created to eliminate the manual copy and pasting of translated strings from Xliff files into Photoshop files.

As the lead of this tool our team took it from
beta to 2.0 in a two year span, adding in a
multitude of features; from batch usability,
customizable strings, variable support
and
string verification. This tool saved hundreds of
hours of production time due to the fact that
files were nearly 50% complete once the
designers began work.

Post production time was also significantly
shortened since the tool could verify the
correct strings were being selected.

LOC Screenshot

After the creation of this tool for macOS I established a team to develop a version for iOS. Working with a large team of software engineers we created a tool that had the functionality to record screen taps to code and run this back in batch to recreate the exact same navigation in any language.

This tool gave us the ability to capture perfect screenshots to use as a base for localization and as reference screens to QA against.

Creating LOC Screenshot saved hours in pre and post production by eliminating the need for individuals to navigate to specific screens in 40+ languages.

Smart Object Replace

With the ever growing Apple product lineup the production design team was required to create more and more content with the same deadlines. In order to achieve these newly created deadlines, I worked with an engineer on an automation script that replaced smart objects within Photoshop files.

By changing the design workflow to

produce one master PSD which would

relink with the use of this script we were

able to reduce our workload to about

a quarter.
